Progress of work

On the first day of this module, the teams have been assembled and the assignments have been explained to us. After introducing everybody to eachother and writing down all the contact data such as names, mailadres etc we sat together to have a little brainstorm about our two assignments.

After discussing about it we decided to create a dark and creapy preview of a thriller movie with a reasonable amount of action in it. We will make a real trailer which can be shown to movie companies with the purpose of finding the finance for making the actual movie. This trailer does not contain the complete story but it will be a fast action based trailer which shows parts of the story. We will try to make it attractive for people to watch and try to create the desire to watch the whole film.

 

 

The first thing what needed to be done in the second lecture was deciding which Belgium teammember was going to switch with a Dutch person from another group. After a vote among the Belgium students David was forced to switch. This may reduce our progress a little bit because the other Dutch student has no idea yet about our idea about the assignments because he was ill the second day.

Steve has made a first draft of the storyboard and will continue to improve it in the following weeks.

The group has made a couple of appointments about trying to contact as many people who can contribute, in any way, for our film.

Starting with postproduction such as scouting shooting locations, finding actors and actresses, do some research and start with a progress file.

We also divided a couple of tasks among our group for example who’s responsible for the progress document and who’s going to act in our film. We also try to maintain some kind of Post Production diaries and we think that would be a great job for the new Dutch person who (hopefully) joins us next week. This means that we are filming the actual filming. This filming will be edited into a short diary so that together with the progress document you can get a clear overview of the proces of how our movie is made.

Our storyboard has almost been finished. Today we made the business plan for our two assignments. We also send out Olivier to spread his survey on the street and he came up with some good results. It seems that people like action based films and want excitement and tension in a movie.
Were trying to start filming next week, so that we can start editing.

Steve has been putting his storyboard into a list of film scripts.
We have also made a list of the days we are all available for filming.
It seems that monday’s and tuesday’s are the best days to film.

We will all search for equipment we can use for the filming.
Steve wrote a short text for a newsannouncement we want to put into our trailer.

Markus and Dennis presented the business plan.

The whole group has listened to a couple of music samples to get a similar idea of what kind of music we will use in our trailer. We need legal music for this so we can’t just use any audio.

An overview has been showed with our first examples of the two productions.

We made plans for filming in the next week. This will be done on Tuesday. Then we will film some interior scenes because the weather will be not that good the following week.

The scene with our CNN like newsreader has been filmed on bluescreen and can be edited in to the template we already build.

Some of the indoor scenes have been filmed in Belgium. We were planning to shoot some scenes outdoor but due to the weather this was impossible. Thus we decided to wait for better weather.

The scenes of the running girls were shot and edited. A first preview of the trailer was created by Steve. We have also bought a royalty for a piece of music for our trailer.

The newsreader has been edited and is ready to be filmed again, shown on a television of course. We shot and collected a couple of production diaries so everybody could get an idea of how it is going to look like. The second examples were shown to the class.

Today we have made a start with the final document and discussed what has to be in it and in the final presentation. We also presented the structure of our final document. In this week we also filmed many action shots like the car chasing scenes etc.

We are in the final stages of the trailer. Allmost every scene has been filmed, mostly in Belgium. A small website design was made to present our trailer in a professional way. The final presentation is being created, some of us are editing the production diaries and everyone is busy finishing the last work.
